Nine UIC Barcelona researchers among the most influential in the world
Researchers from different University areas have again been included in the prestigious Ranking of the World Scientists: World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University, which includes nearly 200,000 scientists from 26 different areas. A total of 3,736 of those selected are Spanish
For the second consecutive year, UIC Barcelona researchers are part of the prestigious ranking prepared by Stanford University. Specifically, the nine researchers and teachers belong to the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.
The Faculty of Dentistry is present in the ranking with the vice-rector of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer of the University, Conrado Aparicio; the professor and head of the area of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Federico Heráandez-Alfaro; head of the Periodontics area, José Nart; and lecturer for the Periodontics area, Alberto Monje.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is in the ranking with Elena Valassi, lecturer for the Department of Medicine; Mercè Boada, medical director at the Ace Alzheimer Center, linked to UIC Barcelona; and Román Pérez, lecturer for the Department of Basic Sciences and head of the Bioengineering Institute of Technology (BIT) at UIC Barcelona.
Also included in the ranking is Lorenzo Chelleri, researcher for the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.
The list prepared by Stanford University also recognises researchers with a research career that has an impact in their field of work. Xavier Gil, professor for the Department of Basic Sciences and member of the Bioengineering Institute of Technology (BIT), is listed in recognition of his extensive scientific production in the area of Biomedical Engineering.
The Ranking of the World Scientists: World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University, published in the Elsevier journal, was drawn from various parameters, such as the number of indexed publications, citations received, h-index, co-authorship or a composite indicator (score).
